The UJS team look forward to seeing you back on campus and celebrating Israel's 61st birthday on April 29th.
Please see a Pesach message from Prime Minister Gordon Brown:
------------
“Dear friends,
I want to wish you all a Pesach Sameach.
The story that you retell at the seder table each year is one which shaped history and continues to serve as an inspiration for people all over the world - it is a story of how a people retained their vision of a better future even amidst great suffering; of how a people built that better future by focusing always on children and on teaching your children the values you hold dear; and it is a story of hope, the hope that keeps us going on the long walk to freedom.
This story is at the heart of what is so special about the Jewish community and the great contribution you have made to Britain.
Please accept my warm wishes for a happy Pesach and pass them on to your family and friends,
Gordon Brown"

It is now over 1000 days since Gilad Shalit was captured. Please read the below holy call from Israel’s chief rabbi, to recite the following Chapters of Tehilim and a prayer for the missing soldiers after the passage of "Avadim Hayinu" (we were slaves to Pharaoh) from the depths of our hearts, for their immediate rescue and return to their homes and families, In good health and peace.
בעהית"ש ,בחמישי בשבת שלשה ימים בניסן תשס"ז
A HOLY CALL
As the festival of Passover "our time of redemption" approaches
and we all gather to celebrate this holy occasion,
drinking the four cups of wine that represent the four verses of deliverance and tasting the Matzah and Maror
We shall remember our sons who are being held in captivity by evil oppressors
and together with the whole House of Israel, we shall be united tonight, as one, around the Seder table.
We shall raise a holy prayer from the depths of our hearts, for their immediate rescue and return to their homes and families,
In good health and peace.
Please recite the following blessing after the passage of "Avadim Hayinu" (we were slaves to Pharaoh).
May He who hears all prayers, favourably hear our prayer at this time
Leading to good tidings soon and in our day
Amen.
Hoping for Hashem's redemption,
Shlomo Moshe Amar
Rishon LeZion- Chief Rabbi of Israel
